Description:
Tricycle Gardens cultivates a greener Richmond by establishing community gardens
and urban farms by providing education and encouraging sustainability. Tricycle Gardens’ goal is to provide garden
building design, resources and support, while helping neighborhood volunteers
who build and manage community gardens with student volunteers from VCU. We see
the evolving ecology of our city as an opportunity for residents to come
together through the simple act of gardening.
Tricycle
Gardens currently
has ongoing and one-time scheduled opportunities for you or your small
group (5 -10 volunteers) to participate in.
Projects include:
- Helping
dig garden beds
- Building
garden items for sale at the farmers market, such as: sub-irrigated
planters, cold frames, worm boxes and rain barrels
- Working
on our urban farm
- Attending
garden workdays
- Working
in our greenhouse
Tasks and project locations will vary depending on age and
number of volunteers. Minimum age to
volunteer: 13
