Girls For A Change - Coaches

Description:

Girls For A Change (GFC) is looking for volunteer Coaches to help us empower Richmond girls! In partnership with Richmond Public Schools, Communities in Schools of Richmond, other local non-profits, and GFC will launch 20 Girl Action Teams in 2010-11.

To start these teams, we need your help! Girl Action Teams consist of 5-15 girls and two women volunteers, serving as GFC Coaches.

WHEN: You will meet once a week with girls for 12 weeks. This is a 15 hour per month time commitment from September - December or January through April. The time you spend will change the lives of Richmond's girls. The GFC program year begins with a Coach orientation and ends with implementation of a girl-led social change project.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to fully commit to a 12-week volunteer assignment. 
  • Ability to attend Coach orientation
  • Willingness to be screened and fingerprinted.
  • Willingness to work in partnership with another volunteer Coach.
  • Desire to encourage, inspire, empower, ignite and engage young women to develop their leadership abilities and implement social change projects.
  • Willingness to be flexible and open to the organic process that youth projects often take.
  • Minimum age to volunteer: 18
